Dakota Barrerra, Team Captain
I was born in Salt Lake City but raised in Boise, Idaho, I have spent a lot of my time enjoying the outdoors that Idaho has to offer, whether it be white water rafting, skiing, backpacking, snowshoeing, mountain biking, or camping. I love having the outdoors so accessible in Boise.
I found a love for music because my father was a drummer and bought me my first drum set when I was about 10. I started playing avidly and by the time I was 14 I was recording albums and playing shows around Boise and the outlying areas. I would play in all different kinds of groups such as indie rock, reggae, jazz, and even death-metal bands. Music has been my passion and I plan to pursue a career in audio engineering and music production, while still being able to perform and play as much as I can. I also DJ live events and weddings which has been a fun side gig! I make sure to wear the musician's earplugs that we offer and I love the benefit they provide!
My second passion would be cooking. My father was also a world class chef and I spent the beginning of my professional life working in kitchens all over town. Starting as a busboy and dishwasher at 14, I worked my way all through the kitchen and learned as much as I could. My favorite job in that industry was being a Sushi Chef at the Tavern in Bown Crossing and at what used to be Happy Fish downtown. I still love cooking even though I don't do it for a living anymore.
I am engaged and getting married in June 2024! My fiancé Carlie is a biologist working on conservation efforts with indigenous tribes in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Their goal is to rehabilitate endangered fish that are culturally significant, and reintroduce them into the population of Klamath Lake. We are excited to start this new chapter in our lives and eventually a family. Always grateful for the present and hopeful for the future!
